Historical Miniature of the Sotkamo Municipality Centre in 1939
A Historical Miniature of the Sotkamo town centre in 1939 was completed in 1997. The Miniature portrays the area of the town centre from the edge of Hirvenniemi to the Kirkkosalmi bridge, and its scale is 1:300.
The Miniature was assembled by a study group in the adult education centre during three academic years. The miniature is dated more specifically as the 5th of September, which back then used to be a “cattle market day marked on the almanac”. In 1939, the date occurred on Wednesday, and the exact time is also specified as the afternoon, which was the departure time of the Kuhmonniemi mail car.
The Historical Miniature of the Sotkamo town centre in 1939 can be viewed in the centre of Sotkamo, on the top floor of K-Supermarket.
